Mailfois vs Planable: which is better for email?

Both help teams plan content and get it approved. Planable is built for social media; Mailfois is built for email. Here’s where each one is the better choice.

The short answer

  • Choose Planable if most of your work is social media and email is an occasional newsletter. It schedules and publishes social posts, which Mailfois doesn’t do at all.
  • Choose Mailfois if email is the main event: several markets or languages, sign-off on the exact version that sends, clients approving without an account, and translations tracked line by line.
  • Agencies doing both: some use both, Planable for social and Mailfois for email.

Who’s writing this: I’m Liam Kane and I built Mailfois, so I’m not neutral. I’ve tried to be fair about where the other option is the better choice. Facts and prices come from each company’s own website and help pages, checked on 14 October 2026.

Where each one wins

Planable is better for

  • Social media: it schedules and publishes posts, and previews them as they’ll look on each network.
  • Teams where email is only an occasional newsletter.
  • Unlimited users on every paid plan, priced per workspace.
  • Multi-level approval chains on Enterprise.

Mailfois is better for

  • Email teams sending to several markets or languages.
  • Clients approving from a link, with no account to set up.
  • Sign-off tied to the exact email version, with a printable approval record.
  • Checking emails against your brand rules before they’re approved, and tracking translations.

What an agency with five clients pays

Planable prices per workspace, and agencies usually give each client its own workspace. Mailfois prices per agency seat, with client workspaces included.

Switching from Planable to Mailfois for email

  1. Export or copy your email plan into a spreadsheet: one row per campaign (or per campaign per market).
  2. In Mailfois, use Planner, then Import. Columns are matched for you and anything that doesn’t fit goes into notes, so nothing is lost.
  3. Save each client’s approvers once, then send the next email for sign-off. They’ll get a private link.

Frequently asked questions

Is Planable good for email marketing?

Planable is built for social media. You can plan and approve newsletters as “universal content”, but email isn’t a publishing channel and there’s nothing for markets, translations or your email platform. For teams where email is the main channel, an email-specific tool is a better fit.

Do clients need an account to approve in Planable?

According to Planable’s help docs, a client needs to be invited as a free approver to approve; public guest links allow viewing and commenting. In Mailfois, clients approve from a private link with no account.

What is the best Planable alternative for agencies doing email?

For email, Mailfois is built around agencies: a separate workspace per client, client sign-off without accounts, two-stage approval, automatic reminders and a printable approval record. For social, Planable remains strong.

Can I use Planable and Mailfois together?

Yes. Some agencies use Planable for social posts and Mailfois for email campaigns, since the two don’t overlap much.
